MID CENTURY AVALON MODULAR CORNER UNIT BOOKCASE
This mid-century Avalon bookcase was produced in the town of Yatton, Somerset, England. The modular bookshelf consists of four upright ladders, two corner cabinets and five shelves which are adjustable. These are fixed by resting on steel support rods, hooked on to the rungs of the ladders. They fit into grooves under the shelves and cabinets. This allows for easy assembly and flexibility. The bookcase does not require any permanent fixing to a wall because it self-supports, however, there are holes in the metal ladders if you would like to fix to the wall.

MAKER:
The furniture manufacturer Avalon is a British company based in the town of Yatton, Somerset, and also made furniture under the names of Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture.
In the past most of the inhabitants of Yatton would have been employed in agriculture. At the time of the Industrial Revolution a furniture factory was established, initially manufacturing church pews and school desks. The successor to this company, Avalon Furniture, produced stylish and popular ‘modern’ furniture during the mid century period and traded successfully for decades, finally closing in 1985.
