This is a very rare mid-century desk was made England during the 1950 by Turnidge of London. Produced in an era when innovation was at the forefront of furniture design this mechanical desk is a wonder to behold. Produced with clean lines and brass handles the style is typical of the period. When the top is lifted the writing platform extends and almost like magic, revealing letter storage and hidden cabinet below the platform, underneath is more cabinet storage. Perfect for a home office, living room or entryway the quality of the construction and design is even better in person than the images suggest.

MAKER:
'Turnidge of London' were a popular British furniture maker in the 20th century, hitting their peak during the 1960s and 1970s. They carved out a niche during the mid-century period, opting not to make obvious dining room or bedroom furniture, instead choosing to make bars, display cabinets and bookcases.
