Mid Century Teak Credenza by Avalon Yatton
Exceptional mid century English teak sideboard or drinks cabinet by Avalon Furniture. Crafted in the Anglo-Danish style that defined much of Britain’s finest furniture design during the 1960s, the piece combines clean architectural lines with the warmth and craftsmanship.
Featuring beautifully sculpted recessed teak pulls, elegant tapered legs, and a subtly curved lower apron that gives the cabinet a lighter, almost floating appearance. Behind the doors, the piece reveals an exceptionally functional interior arrangement including adjustable shelving, divided drawers, and a striking illuminated cocktail compartment complete with mirrored backing and glass shelf — a quintessentially British interpretation of Danish modern living. The integrated lighting and bar storage elevate the cabinet from simple sideboard to statement entertaining piece.

MAKER:
The furniture manufacturer Avalon is a British company based in the town of Yatton, Somerset, and also made furniture under the names of Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture.
In the past most of the inhabitants of Yatton would have been employed in agriculture. At the time of the Industrial Revolution a furniture factory was established, initially manufacturing church pews and school desks. The successor to this company, Avalon Furniture, produced stylish and popular ‘modern’ furniture during the mid century period and traded successfully for decades, finally closing in 1985.
