

MID CENTURY TOLA & BLACK CREDENZA BY STONEHILL FURNITURE
This vintage credenza is a beautiful example from the 1950s by Stonehill Furniture. Produced in England it is constructed from mahogany and ebony color Sapele with nice brass touches. The two tier design is a nice feature with two sliding doors below which conceal cupboard storage. On the right hand side there is four drawers with brass pulls, the top drawer is freshly lined with blue felt. It sits on its original undercarriage and is a striking mid century example.

MAKER:
Nathan Steinberg arrived in London from Tarnopol, Austria in 1895, aged 13. He worked as an apprentice cabinet maker and in 1910 set up his own business producing bedroom furniture. The company became Stonehill Furniture after the Second World War and a public company in 1964. The main factory was in Angel Factory Colony, Edmonton, north London, with several other factories including a former Co-op factory in Pelaw, Co. Durham. Nathan’s sons, Philip and Maurice Steinberg ran the business until their retirement in the 1980s.
